Broadway is a collection of server-side components that seamlessly integrate to provide scaleable network gaming services. The components are currently used in a variety of products and are available to external developers wishing to develop wireless, iDTV and Internet games.
The convergence aspects of Broadway mean that a player with a wireless device could be transparently playing an interactive game with someone on a iDTV.
The Broadway contains the following elements;

Broadway Lobby Server
The Lobby Server provides matchmaking and game launching functionality to publishers with any peer-to-peer or client/server game and is a secure application running on Linux or Solaris servers. It is available with an ActiveX or Java client to enable publishers to use it immediately.
A developer version is available to allow publishers to create their own custom client interfaces.

Broadway Database System
This provides an abstraction layer above the physical database enabling easy code management and rapid scalability. The system runs on any compatible ANSI SQL compliant database server and allows persistent data and game state storage to be easily added to network games.

Broadway Network
The network is a high-redundancy global network with servers located in all major countries, clustering and load sharing which provides high-performance and high-reliability.

Broadway Game Server
The game server enables client/server games to securely transfer game traffic. A redirector module is available that allows Java games to talk to a centralised Broadway Game Server regardless of the applet location Hi2 also provide full administrative tools to manage the game server.
The Broadway system is evolving to encompass new technologies in the wireless, iDTV and Internet markets to enable it to provide true cross-platform compatibility.
